About Java 21
Java 21 is an LTS release that finalized record and switch patterns. Earlier preview code may need adjustments.
An LTS label describes a release line, not a guarantee for every binary. Update availability and support terms depend on the distribution you choose.
Choose a Java 21 build
This catalog lists 25 distributions for Java 21. Available architecture labels include aarch64, amd64, arm, arm64, ppc64, ppc64le, riscv64, s390x, x64, x86; availability differs by operating system and vendor.
Choose JDK to compile Java code. If you only need a runtime, use More filters to check for JRE packages. An installer and a compressed archive can contain the same Java version but require different installation steps.
Verify your JDK installation
After installing, open a new terminal and check both commands. They should report Java 21. If they differ, check PATH, JAVA_HOME, and your IDE's selected JDK.
