About Java 9
Java 9 introduced the module system. When moving from Java 8, review module boundaries and dependencies that rely on internal JDK APIs.
An LTS label describes a release line, not a guarantee for every binary. Update availability and support terms depend on the distribution you choose.
Choose a Java 9 build
This catalog lists 8 distributions for Java 9. Available architecture labels include aarch64, amd64, arm, ppc64, ppc64le, s390x, sparcv9, x64, x86; availability differs by operating system and vendor.
Choose JDK to compile Java code. If you only need a runtime, use More filters to check for JRE packages. An installer and a compressed archive can contain the same Java version but require different installation steps.
Verify your JDK installation
After installing, open a new terminal and check both commands. They should report Java 9. If they differ, check PATH, JAVA_HOME, and your IDE's selected JDK.
java -version
javac -version
